The burial jar

The Sa Huynh people had a custom of burying valuable objects with the deceased. The quantity and quality of grave goods depended on the deceased’s relationships, beliefs, social status and family circumstances when alive. This practice, called “”Tang Tuc””, involved cremation or inhumation alongside precious burial artifacts like glass, agate, jade, silver, gold, coins.
Burial sites containing such artifacts have been excavated, especially in Hue and Quang Nam provinces, often located on slopes near rivers and coasts.
