The Thai are one of Vietnam’s ethnic groups, with a population of 1,820,950 (2019). They are concentrated in Son La, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, and Gia Lai provinces. The Thai language belongs to the Tai-Kadai language family’s Tai branch.
