Nung ethnic group

The Nung are one of the 54 ethnic groups officially recognized by the Vietnamese government. Their primary language, Nung, belongs to the Thai branch of the Tai-Kadai language family. The Nung predominantly reside in the northeastern provinces of Vietnam’s Bac Bo region, including Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, and Tuyen Quang. As of the 2019 Vietnam Population and Housing Census, the Nung population stands at 1,083,298.
